In its most basic form, a standard door handle with a lock is considered access control. This arrangement controls or limits access to a particular area to only those persons with a key. However, today's electronic access control systems provide a higher level of control, allowing you to manage everything from one to an infinite amount of doors.

An individual granted certain access permissions may only be able to enter certain doors between certain hours while others may be denied access entirely or granted full access.
